Catalpa Festival - have you heard of it? If you haven’t you need to be informed. Catalpa is a two day festival that will feature great artists such as, but not limited to, Snoop Dogg, The Black Keys, Girl Talk, City and Colour, Cold War Kids, and TV On The Radio. The people behind this festival enlisted enough exciting and eclectic acts to put it in the running for best NYC music festival.
Forgot Bamboozle and Warped Tour: two festivals that haven’t actually occurred within NYC limits. Catalpa Festival is taking place in the Big Apple’s Randall’s Island. What can be better than that? An intimate island easily accessible from most of the boroughs.
Featuring a number of different music genres, Catalpa is not just for “indie”, “folk”, or “rock”, fans. If the variety of music does not sate your need to be entertained, Catalpa is also including other forms of art. I’m stoked about the Silent Disco Tent alone. What is The Silent Disco Tent, you might be asking? It provides you with noise-cancelling headphones so you can hear a DJ’s set, but no other noise. You can be dancing and screaming your head off and no one will be bothered or think you are crazy! Did I mention you can get married at the festival?! If my wedding date was not already set in stone, my fiancé and I would be getting married there, free of charge! If you do not want to get married officially, you can just have a pretend wedding in their inflatable church! There will also be various art installations around the island for your enjoyment. This festival is for those of you who appreciate true artistry in its many forms.
Catalpa is also going above and beyond to help make the world a better place, by going as green as possible, as well as giving a percentage of proceeds to Oxfam America to help find lasting solutions to hunger and poverty. If you would like to support a great festival, and have a heck of a good time while doing so, you can get a two day pass for the festival by following this link: http://www.catalpanyc.com/tickets/?id=125470

Wrapping up the “On Your Side”, tour with Rocket to the Moon, and other supporting acts, only to follow it with Vans Warped Tour, Go Radio is on their way to making themselves a household name. After two triumphant EP’s, Go Radio has released their first full length album under Fearless Records. When listening to them for the first time, you might be familiar with Jason Lancaster’s vocals from his days in Mayday Parade. However, if you are trying to compare the two, you might be missing out on his raspy, raw, and emotionally engaged voice to the lyrics not forgetting to include the instrumentals. The instrumentals tell their own story that tie into the words; like everyone has their own tale to tell.
This album is more than just a reservoir of songs of falling in and out of love. “Lucky Street”, starts off the CD with a small intimidation of sirens. To calm the heart Steven Kopacz comes in on the drums come in to separate the the sirens and music; following shortly after is Alex Reed on with guitar and Matt “burns” Poulos on bass. Leaving the song with a hopeful note of “taking the road less travelled” even when though it could be a scary place.
Bringing up the pace of the music, “Any Other Heart”, a song dedicated to the people who have done vindictive deeds. The guitars begins fast and very repetition, as the anger starts to boil on the inside. The introductions of the rest of instruments is like the building of a crowd; similar to the forming of an audience agreeing to Lancaster on a soapbox.
With the unfortunate passing of Jason Lancaster’s farther, Herald Lancaster, Jason and his two siblings, Daniel and Erin Lancaster wrote and sing in the song, “Forever My Father”. It was first recorded for their first EP, “Welcome to Life”, Lancaster was determined to re-recorded it for Lucky Street. The song is full of emotional attachments from the artists, and such powerful imagery like the one in the chorus, “Cause I just need you to pick me up like you did when we were younger/ When the lightning and the thunder had me clinging to your heart/ for someone to lift me up when I’m down and I’m forgotten/ You’ll forever be my father and I’ll be saving tears in jars for this one.” It makes you miss the father figures we had, or to run into their arms and hold them tight for those who are fortunate enough to still have them around.
With some guest horns, and strings, all other songs on this album have the same passion. The tracks incorporates (besides the obvious, love), religion, life cycle, philosophical thoughts, and hope. If there was any album you must buy, it would be this one!
I just got stuck on this site for the past two hours, so warning: Only go to this site if you have time to spare!

Sunday Night Scene on Flickr.
Recently I had a photoshoot with Jimme of Sunday Night Scene. Jimme is a great guy, I have done his last 3 shoots and it’s always a good time.
This time around we did some outdoor shots at 5Pointz in Long Island CIty, NY.
I just wanted to inform our viewers about this place! It is a building covered from top to botton in a colorful array of graffiti.
I have heard some rumors that it may get torn down, hopefully it is not true! But in case it is, I encourage you to go check it out. If you are a photographer bring your camera! If you can’t make it out and find yourself on the 7 train to manhattan keep your eyes peeled in between court square and hunters point because you get a good view of 5pointz.
Check out their website and mission statement here: http://5ptz.com/graff/
Interview with We The Kings Interview done in Paris by our photographer Sophie! :)
As you can see we have almost hit 2 million views here on Flickr!!
On behalf of everyone at Fueled By Photography I just want to say thank you so much for taking your time out to look at our photos, whether or not you like them! We appreciate all the support we’ve gotten over the past 3 years, although we only joined flickr 2 and a half years ago (November 27, 2007). It’s crazy to think in that short amount of time we reached this many views. So once again, thank you all SO much. We try to post as much as we can for you guys. I know I personally have slowed down a bit lately, due to me getting robbed of all my camera equipment, but hopefully things will work out and I will be back at full force soon!
Once again thanks to all of you :) Hope you have a great week!
